Barking & Dagenham Somali Women’s Association is a small but ambitious charity dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the whole community.

We are a not-for-profit charity founded and managed by women since the early 1990s, based in Barking. We are a non-religious, non-political organisation open to all in the community who seek our help.

“We work mainly in Barking & Dagenham, and now across a lot of East London. Working with all ethnic minority women and their families.”

Today, our core activities now include the provision of FREE information, advice and support to ALL women and their families from ALL communities who live, work or study in the Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge.

Through the continued commitment and hard work of the volunteers and staff, B & D Somali Women’s Association has continued to help over 500 people a year. Over the last 20 years more than 7,000 women have received our support, help, training and advice.

“We have been improving the quality of life of ethnic minority women and families in Barking & Dagenham since 1995, after 20 years we have ambitious new plans”

The charity is run through the aid of donations, grants and other fundraising. We need your help and support to develop our services, the need for other sources of funding has become ever more vital.
