The charity, along with the rest of the voluntary sector, continues to experience growing funding challenges resulting from Government cuts and on-going austerity.
However, the charity secured support from the Big Lottery Fund’s ‘Communities Can’ programme which equipped B&D SWA with four days paid consultancy from Big Society Funding Community Interest Company. This has helped to create fresh opportunities to embark on business planning and fundraising. Extensive Pro-bono (and some low cost) support was also provided by the CIC.
Big Society Funding Community Interest Company is a social enterprise that ensures individuals, voluntary groups and charitable organisations survive and thrive and that the goal of inclusive communities is embraced. It was set up in 2011 in response to the Government’s new vision of a ‘Big Society.’
